Gin gets the day off: Root and Tonic.

Ever since I heard about Art in the Age's Root last year, I've been pestering the package stores I frequent to carry this root beer-esque libation. It wasn't until I spent some time in Manhattan, KS that I finally found some for purchase (props to The Library).
After sipping on an ice cold shot, I decided that I'd better try a cocktail too. The recipe for a Root and tonic is basically two shots of Root and a splash of real maple syrup into a pint glass filled with ice and topped with tonic.
Was it worth the wait? Oh hell yeah. A Root and tonic is akin to the best tasting sarsaparilla you ever had, with a tangy bitterness that replaces what is traditionally sweet.
